What is a delivery note?
A delivery note is a document listing the contents of a delivery. In the delivery note it is specified what product or products are being delivered. It can sometimes also contain information the buyer might need for their bookkeeping. The delivery note allows the buyer to easily check that the contents of the parcel match what was ordered.
What information should a delivery note contain?
Because there are no strict rules about the design of delivery notes it can contain various details. As a business owner it’s entirely up to you to decide how detailed your delivery notes should be, and what information is relevant to your business.
Below are some suggestions on information you can include:
- Company details
- Order number
- Delivery number
- Customer number
- Name of the receiver
- Delivery address
- Delivery date
- The article number of the product
- Quantity
- Price
- Terms
If you also want the delivery note to act as a receipt, it’s important to include the following information:
- Date of purchase
- Price
- VAT
- Name and article number of the products
- Quantity
- Company details (name, organization/VAT number and address)
